CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga- Police Regional Office 3 joins in the conduct of the 1st Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill held in the afternoon of February 21, 2019.

PCSUPT JOEL NAPOLEON M CORONEL, RD, PRO3 said that the earthquake drill aims to help prepare PNP personnel and other employees inside the camp for an earthquake.

The important part of the drill is to understand that when there is an earthquake it is safest to drop to the ground, find cover and hold on. The activity started by a one minute blowing of siren, wherein all PNP personnel, teachers, students and other employees inside their respective offices drop on the floor, find cover under their tables and hold on to it. Afterwards, all participants went outside, with both hands covering their heads since they could be battered with falling objects,  walked in a single file and proceeded at the designated evacuation area which is the Parade Ground located infront of the Admin Building solemnly. This must be done so as not to cause panic while an earthquake takes place.

The Earthquake drill is an annual exercise designed for the awareness, preparedness and readiness of PRO3 PNP personnel and employees during an actual earthquake.

More or less one thousand (1,000) PNP personnel including teachers, students and other employees inside the camp participated in the drill. Also participated during said activity were personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Camp Olivas, San Fernando, Pampanga- Police personnel from the different units used their own initiative, money and time to put together a project that will change the life of a mendicant couple.

ORPRMS, RFMB 3, ROD, RPDEU3 and SAN LUIS MPS led by Force Commander PSSUPT JOYCE PATRICK SANGALANG  and Chief, ORPRMS PSUPT ROMMEL BATANGAN shared resources and efforts in helping a sexagenarian couple asking for alms in the City of San Fernando town proper thru a brand new bike with sidecar, half sack of rice, canned goods, clothes and hygiene kits. Four trays of baluts were also given to them as their initial capital in selling the street food using the bike with sidecar.

The old couple identified as Reynaldo and Anita ANTONIO travels a long way from their residence in Brgy Pasig, Candaba, Pampanga to City of San Fernando and begs every day to sustain their daily need for food as Reynaldo is visually impaired and they are both  jobless.

“We have decided to give them this bike with sidecar to discourage them from begging alms instead encourage them to earn on their own. In this way, we are really helping them live, not just for a day but for the rest of their lives,” PSSUPT SANGALANG said.

“Like an old saying, “Teach them how to fish and they won’t get hungry again,” this is what your police are doing. We are not only serving and protecting their lives. We also teach them how to live decently,” PSUPT BATANGAN added.

“I commend our police officers headed by PSSUPT SANGALANG and PSUPT BATANGAN for going an extra mile. Your police do not only go after lawless elements, we also help ease poverty and change lives in our own little way,” PRO3 Regional Director PCSUPT JOEL NAPOLEON M CORONEL stated.
