CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga- PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN VALERIANO T DE LEON led the Central Luzon police cops in the commemoration of the 123rd National Flag Day earlier this morning, May 28.
A simple flag raising ceremony was held at the PRO3 Parade Ground, Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga and was attended by the PRO3 Command group, staff and all PRO3 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel.
“Whenever our flag is raised, we are reminded of our unity in the great cause of liberty and justice for all. Sa pagitan nitong araw hanggang sa Araw ng ating Kalayaan sa Hunyo 12 ay ating iwawagayway ang ating watawat at tayo, bilang mga naatasang mangalaga at protektahan ang ating kalayaan, ay patuloy na gagampanan ang tungkuling ito sa pamamagitan ng tapat na pagseserbisyo at paglilingkod ng buong puso,” PBGEN DE LEON said in his message.
The National Flag Day commemorates the day when the Philippine flag was first raised after the victory in the Battle of Alapan in 1898, wherein Filipino revolutionaries led by General Emilio Aguinaldo defeated Spanish troops to recapture the province of Cavite. It was further extended with Executive Order 173, signed by former President Fidel Ramos, which set the observance from May 28 to June 12.
In recent years, the flag days have been extended until June 30 to celebrate the country's independence and promote patriotism.
In support to the activity, Kabataan, Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) members regionwide displayed flaglets in their respective abode. (PIO-3)
