Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga—A robbery suspect died during shootout with authorities a few hours after the burglary took place in Cabanatuan City on May 10, 2021.

According to Nueva Ecija Police Provincial director PCOL JAIME SANTOS, operatives of Cabanatuan City Police Station responded to a robbery incident that transpired at Samson Subd., Brgy. Sumacab Este, Cabanatuan City wherein victim identified as Jose MIGUEL y Andres, 43 years old, male, married,  Overseas Filipino Worker while suspect was identified as  Darwin BASAN y Monterey, 32 years old, male, former BPAT member, native of Brgy. Mayhay, Pagbilao, Quezon Province and a resident of Brgy. Aduas Norte, Cabanatuan City.

The suspect was able to cart away Sixty thousand pesos cash (Php.60,000.00) and more than Two hundred thousand pesos worth of  valuables.

Fortunately, the victim's neighbor recognized the suspect and positively identified him which led to an immediate follow-up and hot pursuit operation which resulted in a shootout fatally wounding the suspect.

Recovered were the following: One (1) caliber .45 pistol, homemade, without serial number with one (1) empty magazine assembly for caliber .45 inserted; One (1) color black Microbike EXT 125 motorcycle with temporary plate with one (1) plastic utility box; One (1) FCC for caliber .45; Three (3) FCCs for caliber 9 mm; and One (1) cartridge for caliber .45.; One (1) white plated Casio wrist-watch; One (1) color brown leather MCM woman’s hand bag; One (1) color dominant green with black sweat shirt; One (1) color red Gucci wrist-watch and  One (1) color white G-Shock wrist-watch.

It was further revealed that BASAN has three (3) standing Warrant of Arrests to wit: Criminal Case No. 2014-959 for the crime of Carnapping issued by RTC Branch 53, Lucena City, dated June 8, 2014; Criminal Case No. 5835-C for the crime of Robbery issued by RTC Branch 63, Calauag, Quezon, dated July 25, 2011; and Criminal Case No. 5836-C for the crime of Robbery issued by RTC Branch 63, Calauag, Quezon, dated July 22, 2011.

" The quick solution of incidents and apprehension of suspects only prove to show that PRO3 is quick in resolving cases and very serious in its campaign against lawlessness, putting criminals behind the bars of justice.
